A visit to the Serapeum, a huge subterranean complex,  will be a  highlight of our day.  A long hallway that runs in east/west directions is flanked by chambers that house gigantic, highly crystalline stone boxes. Many believe that Bulls associated with the Apis Bull cult were buried in them. However, no bulls or human bodies were found in any of these huge boxes which were made with an extremely advanced technology. When excavated in 1852, all twenty-four boxes, weighing 60-80 tons, had been plundered. Their lids had been pried loose and the contents taken. Our collective research shows that these boxes are far more ancient than the writings found on and around them, and were an integral part of a huge energy device. You need to view all the elements  for yourself to truly fathom how it may have functioned.  Overnight at Hyatt Regency Cairo West,  Giza (B,L)

October 31   Tuesday  Day 04   Memphis, PRIVATE VISITS to Abu Sir & Abu Ghorub
After breakfast we will drive to Memphis – the former capital of Egypt. Memphis’ history dates back to the first Pharaoh Namer, from the 1st Dynasty – the first capital city after the Upper and Lower Egypt was unified. Whilst Memphis has been an important city since the beginning of the Dynastic period, there are some incredible New Kingdom statues of Ramses the Great, including a giant reclining statue of the pharaoh, as well as a beautiful alabaster sphinx of Pharaoh Hatshepsut. We will then enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, before driving further south to the Abu Sir and Abu Ghorub archaeological areas. These two magnificent sites are still under excavation and closed to the general public, however, we have organised a special permission visit to both these sites. Abu Sir means “the House or Temple of Osiris”, and the areas is a vast necropolise from the Old Kingdom period, with some later additions. There are 14 pyramid structures onsite – three large ones still remain, however,  Abu Sir is home to the most elaborate and unique mastaba ever built for a non-royal in the Old Kingdom.

The pharaohs’ funerary temples also demonstrate some impressive and highly advanced stone working techniques. And fascinatingly, the entire site was laid out in careful alignment with the Sun Temple of Heliopolis. We will then continue on to Abu Ghorub, just northwest of the Abu Sir pyramids. Abu Ghorub is home to two temples dedicated to the worship of Ra, the sun god of Heliopolis. Abu Ghurob features a giant calcite crystal ‘Hotep Ra’ that many speculate was once an ancient place for religious rituals. The site also contains the famous alabaster and limestone basins that are the subject of many interesting theories.Yousef will highlight some incredible stonework on site, and guests will have the opportunity to get up close to the mysteries giant alabaster bowls found on site. We will then return to our hotel – dinner on your own.  Overnight at the Oasis Hotel (B,L)

Among the items on display are a collection of 26 New Kingdom statues that were found nearby at Luxor Temple, the royal mummies of two pharaohs – Ahmose I and Ramesses I, and a major exhibit which is a reconstruction of one of the walls of Akhenaten’s temple at Karnak Temple. One of the featured items in the collection is a calcite double statue of the crocodile god Sobek and the 18th Dynasty pharaoh Amenhotep III. We will then enjoy lunch at a nearby restaurant, before giving guests the opportunity to do some souvenir shopping nearby. We will then explore the mysteries of the enigmatic Luxor Temple in the early evening.  Linked to Karnak Temple by the Avenue of Sphinxes, Luxor Temple utilizes similar patterns of sacred geometry in its design, as well as offer remarkable giant statues thought to belong to Ramses the Great.
